Hugo Literary Series 2008-2009 Line-Up

Two years ago we dreamed up an idea of inviting writers to create new work based on themes, and then paying them (yes, paying them). And about a year ago we launched the Hugo Literary Series with new stories about Howard Hughes' love for ham hocks (Randall Kenan), an artist's journey through drawing and drugs (Ellen Forney) and one man's quest to make it out of a public restroom alive (Monica Drake).

Our second season of the Hugo Literary Series brings four more evenings of risk and reward with some of the most exciting writers—and songwriters—working today: Sherman Alexie, Aimee Bender, Vikram Chandra, Marie Howe, Pam Houston, The Maldives, Richard Rodriguez and Laura Veirs—to name just a few.

Series passes and individual tickets go on sale starting September 1 at brownpapertickets.com, but if you are itching to learn more about the Hugo Literary Series you can find information on our here.

"Frequently Asked Questions" Tickets on Sale Now

A few months ago, monologist Mike Daisey came to us with an idea— part improv, part storytelling and all risk— and without batting a Shift key, we said, “yes.”

On September 3 at 8 p.m., Daisey and Reggie Watts (front man of Seattle’s Maktub) will answer life’s other frequently asked questions, like “Why is my pleasure so fleeting?” “Am I here for a reason?” “Why didn't I live up to my potential?”

Tickets are $18/$15 for Hugo House and Town Hall Seattle members, students and seniors & can be purchased at brownpapertickets.com.
