House Writers-in-ResidenceThe House writers-in-residence are available to meet free of charge (by appointment only) with anyone seeking advice on their writing. Residencies run from September through June and may last for up to two terms. Our 2008-2009 House writers-in-residence are Angela Jane Fountas and Ed Skoog. They will begin accepting appointments on September 15, 2008. Angela Jane Fountas writes, teaches and runs WriteHabit.org, a Web site in support of new and emerging writers. She is also a volunteer at 826 Seattle and was a 2006 Jack Straw Writer. Angela recently completed her first book, a collection of short stories, which was supported by grants from 4Culture and the Mayor's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs in Seattle. Her work has appeared in Quick Fiction, Sentence, Redivider, Elimae, Syntax, The Bitter Oleander, Diagram.2 (Del Sol Press, 2006) and elsewhere. She earned her M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Alabama and is the editor of the anthology "Waking Up American" (Seal Press, 2005).To make an appointment with Angela, email angelajanefountas@hugohouse.org. Ed Skoog's first book of poems, "Mister Skylight," will be published by Copper Canyon Press in 2009. His poems have appeared in Poetry, American Poetry Review, The Paris Review, The New Republic, Ploughshares, NO and LitRag; his short stories have appeared in many magazines and the anthology "Life After The Wake: Fiction from Post-Katrina New Orleans." He has been a scholar at the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers Conferences and was selected for the 2007 Lyric Poetry Award from the Poetry Society of America.
